In the late 1980s, during his tenure as a graduate student researcher at the Salk Institute for Biological Studies in San Diego, Dr. Malone conducted pivotal studies demonstrating that mRNA could be delivered into cells using liposomes, leading to the production of target proteins. This work is recognized as one of the earliest steps toward mRNA vaccine development.
Throughout his career, Dr. Malone has held various academic and professional positions, including serving as an assistant professor at the University of Maryland School of Medicine and as an adjunct associate professor of biotechnology at Kennesaw State University. He has also been involved in clinical affairs and vaccine development within the pharmaceutical industry.
During the COVID-19 pandemic, Dr. Malone has been a vocal figure, expressing concerns about the safety and efficacy of COVID-19 vaccines. His positions have attracted both attention and criticism from various quarters.
